Amazon to buy Twitch

It was recently rumored that Google would be acquiring Twitch. However, that deal did not go through and it looks like Amazon will be acquiring Twitch for 970 million in cash. Google might not have been able to acquire Twitch because of antitrust laws. I would have preferred Google getting Twitch. It will be interesting to see what Amazon does with Twitch. Hopefully, they don’t make Twitch part of their Amazon Prime service.

Google working on Drones

It was revealed that Google is working on drones to deliver goods to consumers. Last year, Amazon announced that they were working on creating their own drones. However, Google wants to be able to deliver goods within two minutes. Amazon said that it would take about thirty minutes to deliver products. Google’s drones will also be lowering goods from the air; while Amazon’s drones will land first. It is intriguing to see Google’s plan for drones. I am still skeptical of this form of delivering products. I am worried that some people will try to bring down the drones. What do you think of Google and Amazon drones?

Microsoft Windows 9 Rumored to be Revealed on September 30th

Windows 9

According to Tech Crunch, Windows 9 will be revealed on September 30th, 2014. It is rumored to bring back the start menu in some form. Hopefully the new operating system will be closer to the Windows 7 experience. The metro experience is supposed to be better integrated with the Windows 9 desktop. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft reveals in September. I am hopeful that Windows 9 will be similar to Windows 7. I recently downgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 9 because of driver issues. Windows 9 is rumored to go public sometime early next year. What direction do you want to see Microsoft take with Windows 9?

Shovel Knight Review

When I first downloaded Shovel Knight I didn’t expect it to be anything great. I was wrong this retro looking game is amazing. The object of the game is to defeat the Evil Enchantress and save your lost love. It is an intense Platformer. The story is simple and basic but the level design is not. It reminds me of classic games like Mario and Mega Man. I am surprised at how new and fresh the game seems.

Shovel Knight 1

I really like how Shovel Knight uses a shovel to attack enemies. Shovel Knight can use his shovel as a pogo stick, a weapon or he can shoot magic out of his shovel. As the player progresses the levels get exceedingly more difficult. I really enjoy the retro music and sounds in this game. I also like how the player can increase his magic and health. It makes the game more interesting.

Shovel Knight 2

I don’t like how the primary button in this game is set to B; I am always trying to press A. I also don’t like how the player can run into enemies when navigating the map. It is frustrating and I often lose my focus when this happens. I know this is supposed to emulate past games but it is just annoying. I don’t like the boss battles, because the bosses are not very interesting. Most of them seem to be derived from Shovel Knight himself.

Shovel Knight 3

This game is a must own for any Wii U owner. It is an instant classic and it emulates past games like Mario, Mega Man, DuckTales, and Zelda 2. I enjoyed blasting enemies away with my shovel and playing through the various levels. It is not an easy game by any means. I give this game a 8 out of 10.

Apple to host Media Event on September 9th

apple logo

Apple has scheduled a giant media event for September 9th. It is possible that Apple will reveal the iPhone 6 at this event. The iPhone 6 is rumored to have bigger displays than previous iPhones. It is rumored that the iPhone 6 will have displays that are 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. I think that Apple could reveal a smart watch at this media event. It would make sense since Google just came out with Android Wear.
