Recently Apple released an update that made the iPhone 6 unusable. Apple pulled update 8.0.1 because some users were unable to make calls and other users were unable to use Touch ID. The update was originally released to fix issues with iOS 8. It is unfortunate that Apple is having so many issues with the new iPhone. It has also been reported that the iPhone 6 is bending in people’s pockets. I think the iPhone 6 might have to be recalled or replaced. It looks like this phone is filled with all kinds of bugs.
On Monday September 15th, 2014 Microsoft announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire Minecraft’s studio. Microsoft acquired Minecraft’s development studio for a hefty 2.5 Billion dollars. I think Microsoft made a smart decision. They now own the Minecraft franchise and I am sure they will continue to develop it.
Will Minecraft 2 be exclusive to Microsoft?
No, I don’t think that Minecraft 2 will be exclusive. Minecraft is as big as Lego’s was 20 years ago and Microsoft would be unwise to limit its growth. In Microsoft’s press release they said,”Microsoft plans to continue to make “Minecraft” available across all the platforms on which it is available today: PC, iOS, Android, Xbox and PlayStation.” This statement makes me believe that the sequel will not be exclusive.
What do I want to see in a Minecraft sequel?
I want to see updated graphics, more customization options, and an optional story or quest. I think it would be cool if Minecraft had a back story. It would be cool to connect to characters like Steve. I also want to see Minecraft on Nintendo platforms. I hope that Microsoft doesn’t stifle the growth of this series.
Last week Apple announced their new smart watch. It looks like a very capable device. The new watch uses a digital crown to zoom up on apps and to return to the home screen. This new digital crown is supposed to revolutionize the smart watch. The Apple Watch also has a retina display. The retina display will make it easy to read text and view images. The Apple Watch also functions by connecting to a persons iPhone. This is similar to how the Moto 360 connects to a person’s Android phone.
What do I think about the Apple Watch?
I don’t think that the Apple Watch is innovative. It is similar to many of the Android watches that came out months ago. It is a beautifully designed watch. However I like the circular design of the Moto 360 better. It is interesting how the Apple Watch uses the digital crown. The digital crown is a cool feature, but I don’t think it makes the Apple Watch superior to the other smart watches. The main reason people wear a watch these days is for fashion or style. If a person wants to check the time they can just use their smartphone.
What features do I want to see in an Apple Watch?
To be truly innovative I think Apple would have had to do something revolutionary. If the Apple Watch had the ability to display holograms it would be truly different. I will not be getting a smart watch until it can do something truly innovative. The Apple Watch is not innovative! It is just a copy of Android and Galaxy smart watches. Yesterday Apple announced the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The biggest catch is the large screen display. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch display and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch display. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 plus will be available on September 19th, 2014. The iPhone 6 will be available starting at $199 and the iPhone 6 Plus will be available starting at $299. The new iPhones have an A8 chip processor with a 64 bit architecture. They also have an 8 megapixel camera and 1080p HD video recording. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus come with Touch ID and Apple Pay. Apple Pay is supposed to make it easier to pay for products and services wirelessly.
The new iPhone is a really big upgrade from the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S. The biggest selling point is the increased screen size on both the iPhone 6 and the Plus. I am definitely interested in the iPhone 6 for my next upgrade. However, I wish that they had a smaller screen size for people that don’t like large phones. It will be interesting to see how well the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus does. I am also excited for the release of iOS 8 on September 17, 2014.
Minecraft is coming out on PS4 this Thursday, September 4th, 2014. The Xbox One version is coming out on Friday, September 5th, 2014. If a player owns the Xbox 360 version or the PS3 version they will get the new version at a discounted price. The game normally costs $20, but the discounted price is $5. This is a fantastic deal and if I had a PS4 or an Xbox One I would take advantage of it. I wish Minecraft would come to the Nintendo Wii U. It would be a really great fit because of the interactive game pad.
