Mario Kart 8 Review

Mario Kart 8 is the latest entry in the Mario Kart series. It is a fantastic game and it pushes the series in a new direction. It pushes the series in a new direction because it introduces Anti-Gravity. Anti-Gravity tracks have players driving upside down and on the sides of walls. Anti-Gravity also allows players to get a speed boost by bumping into other racers. It gets really intense.

The game also introduces new courses, new characters and new karts. Some of the new courses are really imaginative and creative. For example one course takes place at a Water Park and another course takes place on a Sweet Canyon. Mario Kart 8 also brings back some classic courses like Moo Moo Meadows and Rainbow Road from N64. Moo Moo Meadows is one of my favorite courses in the Mario Kart series.

I don’t like the character selection in Mario Kart 8; I hope that they add more characters via DLC. Nintendo didn’t include classic characters like Diddy Kong, King Boo and Dry Bones. However I do like the Kart customization in Mario Kart 8. This feature lets the player customize a Kart’s wheels, body and glider.

Mario Kart 8 is the first Mario Kart game in High Definition and it delivers. The game also introduces new items that play a factor in the game. The super horn allows racers to destroy the blue shell. It is finally possible to avoid the deadly blue shell. The game isn’t perfect but it is more balanced then previous Mario Kart games and overall it is a exhilarating experience.

Unboxing Mario Kart 8

I recently purchased Mario Kart 8 from my local Target Store. It was 64.99 and it comes with a free downloadable game. So far Mario Kart 8 has lived up to the hype. I think the game is a lot more balanced than previous Mario Kart titles. My favorite aspect of the new game is the HD graphics, it looks really amazing in HD. I highly recommend Mario Kart 8. It is the best game on the Wii U so far.

New Mario Kart 8 Trailer

Nintendo recently revealed a new trailer for Mario Kart 8. The trailer shows off new courses and new items for the upcoming game. Some of the new items include the coin item, the piranha plant item, and the boomerang item. The trailer also shows off the new Rainbow Road stage in Mario Kart 8. The game looks fantastic and I can’t wait to play it when it comes out on May 30th, 2014. Will Mario Kart 8 be the best Mario Kart to date?

Nintendo Direct Introduces Little Mac

Nintendo recently held a Nintendo Direct. During the direct they announced some key release dates for Wii U and 3DS games. They also announced that Little Mac would be a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash game. Little Mac is from the Punch Out games. The Punch Out games are fighting games so I am not surprised to see Little Mac in Super Smash. Super Smash will be coming out in 2014.

Nintendo revealed that Mario Kart 8 is coming out on May 30th, 2014. They also announced that Gameboy Advanced games would be coming to the Wii U virtual console in April. Some of the games that are coming include Metroid Fusion, Mario and Lugi: Superstar Saga and Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advanced 3. I find it interesting that Nintendo is releasing these games on the Wii U. They should be coming to the Nintendo 3DS because they are handheld titles. Nintendo also told us that NES Remix 2 will be released on April 25th. NES Remix 2 is a collection of NES mini games.

Nintendo is also releasing Yoshi’s New Island on March 14th, Kirby Triple Deluxe on May 2nd and Mario Golf: World Tour on May 2nd of 2014. I am excited to see how the first true sequel of Yoshi’s Island turns out. I hope it lives up to the original Yoshi’s Island because that was one of my favorite games on GBA. Overall I think Nintendo had a successful Nintendo Direct; I can’t wait to see what they have planned for E3 this year.

Nintendo @E3 2013

By MTImage

Nintendo showed some great games at E3 2013.  However, this is the first year that Nintendo didn’t have a major press conference.  Instead Nintendo showed an online presentation called Nintendo Direct.  They truly showed why it is worth owning a 3DS and a Wii U.  I am so glad that I bought my 3DS on the day it came out and that I bought the Wii U when it first came out.

What games did Nintendo show at E3?

They showed off a variety of first party and third party titles.  One of the games that caught my eye was the New Super Smash game for 3DS and Wii U.  They showed several trailers for the new game and they announced several new playable characters.  They announced three new characters, Megaman, the Villager from Animal Crossing and the Wii Fit Girl.  Nintendo also revealed a new Donkey Kong game called Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.  It is the sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns.  It is a side scrolling platformer that pits you against Vikings and Giant Walruses. Some of the other titles that Nintendo delved into include Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Yoshi’s New Island, The Legend of Zelda a Link Between Worlds and New Super Lugi U.  Nintendo also shared more details about the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y games.  Both games will be released on October 12th, 2013 and they will be in 3-D.

How well did Nintendo perform at E3 this year?

I wasn’t very surprised by what I saw from Nintendo this year.  In the past Nintendo has made some pretty big announcements at E3.  In the past several months Nintendo has revealed most of the games that we saw at E3.  The only games that really surprised me were Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Super Mario 3D World.  I would give Nintendo a six out of ten at this years electronic expo.
